Burrata Dinner Theatre

From left to right: Me, Sydney, Michael, Ashlyn, Mily, and Connor.

February can be a dreary time of year, but thankfully you can make the most of it by having fun with your friends! And my favourite way to spend time with friends is making them delicious food, cozying up by the fire, and laughing the night away.

My friends surprised me with some of my favourite—tulips and lilies—flowers! The only thing better than fresh flowers, is unexpected fresh flowers!

Dinner was fabulous. It started with a creative little appetizer that Michael put together. It was a fusion dish of Korean and Japanese elements, and it was totally delicious! It consisted of grilled steak, kimchi, spicy Kewpie mayo, crunchy lettuce, and these addictive wasabi seaweed crackers we got from Costco by way of Running Man in New Minas.

Fresh local burrata and basil make this dish.

For the main course, I put together Alison Roman’s famous Almost Classic Caesar Salad, and Julius Robert’s exquisite Pasta Diavola complete with four—yes, four!!—fresh burratas from the local Ciro’s Roma Cheese here in the Valley. There were many “oohs” and “ahhs” as I tore open the first burrata. It was a true piece of dinner theatre, especially when I didn’t stop at one, and continued to tear apart three more. I cannot recommend this recipe enough if you are looking to impress your guests theatrically, and obviously with the taste as well.

These folks are majorly cute!
